Tigran Berkelyan was born in Nijny Novgorod, Russia in 1988. He commenced his musical studies at the age of seven, when he attended the Kushnaryan music school in Yerevan, Armenia, then continued his studies at Tchaykowsky Music College under the guidance of Margarita Hakobian.
In 2006 Berkelyan went on to study with Igor Javrian at the Komitas State Conservatory in Yerevan, and six years later with Tellef Juva at UIA in Kristiansand, Norway. Now he is 2nd year masters student at UIA (Sveinung Bjelland's class).
Berkelyan is a performing soloist and chamber musician in Armenia, Russia, Greece, Israel and Norway, and is a winner of numerous competitions and festivals in Armenia and internationally.
