Ripsime
Ripsime
The star to her one-woman show, Ripsime, is a singer, songwriter and producer. Armenian by blood, Latvian by birth, Ripsime was raised in England where she became the epitome of a funk-fueled third culture kid. “Art and literature were a central part of my childhood for as long as I can remember” says Ripsime, as she also works on her music’s artwork and beyond. From visiting art galleries and antique markets in New York with her father, to sleeping in the libraries of Oxford and Cambridge, the artistic thing is a natural one for Rip and everything she touches is a raw representation of that.
She is not about being different rather embracing how she feels with change. The music grows from folk like structure but creates a live instrumentation soundscape with pop and electronic elements that is ever so sweet to the ears. Whether it’s a new single, album, or EP that Ripsime is putting out, she is placing a piece of her soul in it all with the most honest of intentions and pristine creative prowess.
After moving to LA a few years ago, she rapidly embarked on her musical journey and was shortly after introduced to producer Chino Maurice who has also produced for Beyonce, Lil Kim, and even Ghostface Killah. Pigeons and Planes was quick to extend a premiere opportunity for her debut single Black Wine which revealed the first of many elements of the Ripsime story. It was a preview of the Ripsime sound that is maturing with a bang and coming at you in glimpses. Soon, her sophomore single When In Love will be released showcasing yet another element of the Ripsime story and her developing sound.
Of course that is not all Ripsime is diving into. Once When In Love serenades listeners across the airwaves she will be releasing a limited edition Zine containing poetry with customized artwork, having worked with extraordinary directors and photographers to curate the Zine. It will be released in combination with exclusive videos to accompany the single and bring even more pieces of the Ripsime puzzle to light.
From the London School of Economics straight to the Los Angeles Music scene, Ripsime has proved that she is a hustler at heart with a soulful groove and a majestic voice with eyes set to kill. With no sight to stop anytime soon, Ripsime is charging full force as her soulful solstice of a brand thrives through serene vocals and heart warming tunes.
