Born in Istanbul, Kevork Tavityan graduated from the Opera Academy of the State Conservatory of Istanbul (Mimar Sinan University) with a Master of Performance degree.
Tavityan made his professional debut with the Opera of the Cemal Resit Rey Concert Hall in the role of Dulcamara in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’Amore in 1995 and has been singing for the State Opera of Istanbul since 1998. Tavityan has appeared as a soloist in numerous international music festivals held in Istanbul and Izmir as well as the Opera Festival of Aspendos with State Opera of Turkey.
As a chorus conductor, Tavityan currently conducted the chamber chorus and main chorus of the State Opera and Ballet of Istanbul. As a chorus conductor and a soloist, Tavityan has had many successful concerts in various cities around the world, such as Paris, Munich, Hannover, Montreal, Plovdiv, Salerno, Essen, Beijing, Shanghai and Sydney.
In 2015 Kevork Tavityan was appointed the new Director General of Istanbul State Opera and Ballet Theater.
