Georgi Minasyan was honored with an invitation to AIR Studios in London to record solo duduk for the newly released feature film, ‘The Promise’. Set during the last days of the Ottoman Empire, ‘The Promise’ follows a love triangle between Michael, a brilliant medical student, the beautiful and sophisticated Ana, and Chris – a renowned American journalist based in Paris.
Georgi worked with Academy Award winning composer, Gabriel Yared (The English Patient, The Talent Mr. Ripley), along with Director Terry George and Orchestrator Jeff Atmajian to create an amazingly moving and dramatic score for the film.
“It was an honor and privilege to have this lifetime opportunity to work with such talented people. And an amazing opportunity to bring the story of the Armenian people to an international audience.” says Minasyan.
Georgi performed on a series of duduk instruments designed and created by his grandfather, Maestro Georgy Minasov. The expanded range provided versatility and greater imagination to the duduk sound. Georgi looks forward to being a larger part of the international community of musicians and artists dedicated to revealing the truths about the struggles of humanity and the triumphs of love and understanding… captured all through a love for music!
