100 Songs of Armenia
As 2015 marked the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, Music of Armenia launched a year-long project entitled “100 Songs of Armenia”, through which we honour the memory of those who were deprived of the right to perform and enjoy the beauty of Armenian music, and to celebrate the legacy of those who made/make and spread Armenian music around the globe.
The project poster depicts Armenian Genocide orphan survivors playing music. The photo is a part of the collection of the Near East Relief photographs from the Rockefeller Archive Center of New York, taken during 1915. It was this photograph, that inspired us to launch “100 Songs of Armenia” to present the 100 most important Armenian songs, which shaped the Armenian cultural heritage and its reality.
"100 Songs of Armenia" is a means through which Music of Armenia further educates and raises awareness about Armenian music to audiences around the world.
Your contribution to this mission of utmost importance is welcomed and we encourage you to send us your suggestions of songs you would like us to include in the project.
